The Power of Manuka

Manuka essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and branchlets of the evergreen shrub Manuka, also known by the botanical name Leptospermum scoparium. This flowering sapling can be found within the Myrtaceae family, the same family as Tea Tree oil, of dicotyledonous plants

Manuka essential oil is a clear, pale yellow liquid that is slightly denser than other essential oils. It is a widely sought-after material throughout the aromatherapy industry because of its wholesome earthy and fresh scent and believed soothing properties.

Manuka essential oil is best known for its active ingredient – Leptospermone, which is a type of terpene that is produced by plants within the myrtle family. When extracted from the Manuka plant via steam distillation, Leptospermone is an odorless, viscous, yellow liquid with herbicidal properties.

You may have heard of Manuka Oil and heard whisperings of its many benefits. It is derived from the leaves + stems of Manuka found in New Zealand.  This oil is known for its excellent health benefits.

Manuka Oil is known to be antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-histaminic, anti-allergenic, anti-dandruff and good for insect bites so a great natural remedy.

Help Treat Blemishes: Manuka oil is packed with antibacterial properties that can help treat acne blemishes. We all know that most acne problems are caused by the overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands. When sebum comes into contact with everyday pollution and mixes with dirt and dust, the skin becomes a breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria. When left untreated, the skin becomes infected, and before you know it, you have a severe case of acne on your hands. Treat Coughs And Colds: Since Manuka is also acting as an effective antihistamine, it can quickly reduce the production of histamine in the body, putting an end to those exhausting cough spells.
